How should I store bar soap?
Store bar soap where it can dry between uses. Use a soap Saver dish to keep it raised out of standing water. Keep soap out of puddles to avoid mushiness. For unused bars, store in a cool, dry place wrapped in breathable paper, not plastic.
Bar-to-body or use a washcloth?
Both methods are fine. Using a Soap bag will help extend the life of the bar and help provide exfoliation.
What's the difference between handmade (natural) and store-bought soap?
The main difference between handmade (natural) soap and store-bought soap is how they’re made and what they contain.
Handmade / natural soap
- Made with oils and lye through traditional soap-making
- Naturally retains glycerin, which moisturizes skin
- Fewer synthetic ingredients, gentler on sensitive skin
- Often uses essential oils and natural additives

Store-bought soap
- Often detergent-based (technically “cleansing bars”)
- Contains synthetic fragrances, preservatives, and hardeners
